October was a busy month. As well as a full-time job, freelancing and trying to sort out travel plans for next year, I’ve been finalising a load of features with electronic artists I love for Ikimasho! It also doesn’t help that Tokyo is absolutely swamped at the minute with good events to go to. I recently saw DJ Krush play a special set with traditional Japanese musicians outside The National Museum’s Gallery of Horyu-ji Treasures. You can listen to that set here – as well as a fantastic atmospheric set by Romanian sound sculptor, Parachute Pulse, here. There was a night of jungle at the hands of dBridge, Randall, Special Request and Mark Pritchard – and Warp labelmate Rustie will make an appearance this Thursday night at Womb alongside Oneohtrix Point Never, both playing sets in homage to Japanese video game music. Tonight, however, is the Sui Zhen ‘Body Reset’ EP release party at Aoyama IDOL alongside submerse and kidkanevil. Phew! November promises to have a load of cool stuff on Ikimasho! so keep checking back. Mata ne.
