“Punk music was important to me as a young man and many of the values and core ideas are still with me. Its good to be skeptical. It’s good to have an automatic instinct to do your own thing. For me, punk is more about honesty, creativity and originality than it is about anger.”
SOUND SYSTEM! JESSE MICHAELS YOUTUBE SESSION
“Here are my favorite YouTube videos, that I can remember. You know how it is, you remember them when you don’t need them but when you try to think of them they aren’t there. Anyway, some of them are funny, some of them consist of the music I grew up listening to and some of them I really can’t explain at all. The seventh one is a movie I made – that’s what I do now.
“Justin asked me if my old band’s name ‘Common Rider’ comes from ‘Kamen Raida.’ The answer is yes. Also, did I study Japanese Soto Zen Buddhism? Again, the answer is yes. I still like Kamen Raida and Zen! I have not been to Japan but I would love to go some day because I love Japanese culture, art and music. My favorite Japanese bands are Lip Cream, Deadside, Gauze, and Beat Crusaders. Thank you for checking out these videos and if you like the music I have been involved with over the years, you have my gratitude.”
