16 years ago today I touched down in Japan for the very first time, staying in Tokyo for three nights before flying to Fukuoka to work for a year. I was straight out of university, and while I had toured a bit in a punk band before that, it was my first time living away from home. From the moment I got off the plane I felt at home in Japan, and that feeling has stayed with me ever since. Fast forward to now, and I’m obviously here in Tokyo, but it’s funny to think that during those three nights I stayed in the city way back in 2003, Mrs IKIMASHO was also here, but our paths wouldn’t cross for another 14 years. Life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, but I believe you will always end up exactly where you’re supposed to be when the time is right. Everything we do in life, even if it seems bad at the time, is setting us up for something greater and putting us on the right course.
