Snow isn’t always a certainty in Tokyo. It maybe snows once every few years, and when it does it is alway a big deal – the news programmes go mad for it, and there is always a bit of train disruption. This year is wasn’t too bad, thankfully. Call me Scrooge, but while it may look nice, I hate walking about in this stuff.
It was really coming down at one point! It actually resulted in school closures, mainly because the school buses wouldn’t have been able to operate to a tight schedule.
From snow falling…
To light falling… We took a trip to the new Azabudai Hills complex to check out the reopened Team Lab Borderless exhibition.
Winter lights and Tokyo Tower.
Colours inside the train carriage…
And inside Mrs IKIMASHO’S new favourite clothes shop.
A nice pork pork and rice lunch set, with some some interesting sides. The sashimi was actually pretty good despite this being a simple shop.
Chargrilled mackerel, simple yet satisfying.
Gyoza for days! A cheap gyoza lunch from Gyoza no Fukuho in Shinjuku. This spot is worth checking out: no frills, very cheap and lets you choose from normal fried gyoza or deep-fried. We always opt for a side of shiso leaves to wrap around them.
Lamb isn‘t the most popular meat in Japan, you don’t see it so often. This plate with hummus and flatbread was good.
Vines climbing up a house…
And bamboo reaching for the sky.
A few unusually hot days meant we were able to laze about in Shinjuku gyoen.
Potted plants, basking in the sun
Striking colours on the road…
And in the sky.
The main bulk of the cherry blossoms haven’t even begun to bud yet, however in early March there is always a different type that blooms early…
Offering a glimpse of what is to come in the coming weeks.
I hope you are all happy and healthy. Thank you for reading!❤️
