Another bizarre afternoon down in Kanagawa…
Yesterday was Saturday and a few of us randomly ended up down in Kawasaki for the afternoon. I like it down there, it’s much grittier than Tokyo – a heavy industrial city with lots of back streets, Chinese restaurants and people who dress like they don’t care about the latest fashion trends emerging 30km north in the capital. If Tokyo is Edinburgh, then Kawasaki is most definitely Glasgow. It seems like every time I’m down this way something bizarre happens – and yesterday was no different. As well as watching a surreal Japanese ABBA tribute band (more about that another time), we stumbled across a bunch of pro wrestlers doing some promotion for an event they have coming up. As they slapped each other about, kids were buying toys from an adjacent flea market and old folk were drinking cheap One Cup sake. Only in Japan, as they say.

11am and already on the sauce
