As I quietly sit here at my dining room table, it’s already mid-October and summer has passed for another year. Yes, the temperatures are still mid-20s in Tokyo, but the mornings have become cooler and a few leaves have already started to make their final journey from the trees to the ground. We had a nice trip to Busan early in July that I shared some photos from here, but besides that, we stayed in Japan for the summer, lazing about and just enjoying the days as they came. The first few photos from this post are from a short trip up to Ibaraki to visit my in-laws, while the rest are just some sporadic shots from Tokyo that I lifted off my phone, in no particular order and with no particular theme. No matter where my wife and I are in the world, our routine follows the same predictable pattern: walking about, grabbing some lunch, relaxing in a cafe. And so, while these photos may not be hugely interesting in and of themselves, they hopefully capture a sense of simply enjoying life in the moment.

I hope all of you have a good transition into autumn and a happy & healthy end to the year.
I’m not sure how many faithful blog readers I have, but I realise I post less on here than I used to. I mainly use this platform now for round-up photo essays of trips and seasons, while Facebook is where I post more regularly. No matter where you are reading from, thanks for creating a nice and welcoming community.
